New Computer

I got myself a new computer at the start of January, and once I get around to installing BF2 and CoH editors on it I will resume mapping. The old laptop needs a format, which will hopefully sort out some of the issues it had with the BF2 editor and I will be able to use it as well.

Life's been real busy for me the last couple of months, and it isn't likely to slow down any time soon.
As much as It is nice to be busy, if I could spend a few more hours each week mapping and modding ect it would be nice.

But such is life.

Still about

I am still about, just been busy. Mainly playing CoH and a few other games, havent done much mapping lately.

BMR:
The damn BF2 editor is causing me grief. It keeps crashing on me part way through light mapping (a 4-12 hour process) so its getting real frustrating. I have got the sky and lots of the map looking how I want it, unfortunately some parts of the track are black and you cant see the road :(

COH
Havent done much mapping at all, started tweaking with the editor and a mate and I are toying with the idea of creating a infantry only mod. guess we will see if that happens or not.

Till next time

Holiday and bloddy graphics card

I spent the last week in the Northern Territory on holidays, warming up and getting away from the winter chills here at home. As normal the weather up there was very nice and I had a great break, even though I didn't get out fishing. I have been getting distracted by games lately, so I haven't been doing any mapping. but now I have had a good break, and I am back in the colder southern parts of Australia, I will get my current couple of maps finished off.

On a sad note, my issues with the graphics on my laptop continue, I am getting games crashing giving M$ Visual C++ errors, and some ATI executable getting stuck in a continuous loop and causing a blue screen of death. I have updated graphics drivers, and reverted to older drivers, both from the manufactures website and Omega drivers, but the issues continue. I think my graphics card in dieing! As it's a laptop a new card is going to be expensive and difficult to source and install, and as the laptop is a few years old, I am thing of upgrading to a whole new PC. Just have to find about AU$3 000.

Bloody computers, why do I use them.

Stupid Computers

Due to problems with my computers, I didn't get any modding done this weekend.

I have a virus on one, that is proving diffucilt to remove, and I have been having some trouble with my graphics card on the gaming machine lately. Had a few game crashes, and blue screens saying the problem was caused by atiduag. . . . . (or something like that) and one game I can't reinstall "because DX9c can't be detected" I have updated DirectX and several game that need it work, besides the game was installed up until a few weeks ago.

Anyway friday night things got a little worse, so I updated the graphics drivers, OOOPPPPss!!! That caused me all kinds of trouble. Direct3D and directdraw not working, just a black screen after logging in and plenty grumpiness. I was trying both Catalyst ATI drivers and Omega drivers and both had different issues. I finally got some older Omega drivers to install and have most things looking ok. the Direct 3D test through DXDiag still looks a little weird, but you can make it out. I just hope my graphics card is not about to die.

Time to look at a new machine, but I will start trawling EBay for a graphics card, have to see how the savings are looking as to what option is affordable.

Stupid Computers!

Milla Milla Raceway

Well Milla Milla Raceway, my first BMR map is almost finished. I just have to finish the light maps, which i will leave running over night, then fix up the pics for the loading and menu screens. Well that the version with the Imprezza and 350z any way, we are thinking of a second version with different cars, and I am think of doing something with the all wheel drive track I made on it.

Tipus and I also played around with the tweaks for the vehicles, setting the speeds to what we wanted and all matching within each class of vehicle. Ooh, and Tipus fixed the turbo/ nos, so it is less of an advantage. Things are progressing will with BMR at the moment, we hope to release at the end of this month.

Fingers crossed.

Damn reinstall

With only a few hours after work each night this reinstall is taking forever, or so it seems. I'm getting there, drivers are now up to date, antivirus programs are done, BF2, CoH and the editors are done, and the maps I was working on have been put back into the correct places. Just finishing off all the other programs now, so hopefully I will get a game in tonight and can get mapping again on the weekend.

BO in working on 2 more cars for BMR, so i want to have a bash at tweaking the files to lighten his workload, guess we will see how I go. I still have to complete Quad Gorge and Milla race way (my BMR maps) so the have all the code an flags needed. Then I can help Tipus and BO with whatever else needs to be done.

So far so boring here, but checkout these websites for more info:

Format time

I am spending tonight formatting my gaming machine, which is also the machine I do all my modding and mapping on. So till the weekend at least there will be no mopping or anything for me as I reinstall all my games and return all my music and stuff to the required places.

The machine has been slowly getting slower and slower, and a little unstable so hopefully this will fix all that. I did pick up some kind of bug on it too, something kept trying to access the web, my firewall was stopping it, but my antivirus programs could not find or remove it.

Ohh well, I will keep looking for new drivers and stuff while it slowly reinstalls. Then start installing all the other crap and the games ect, ect, ect, ect, ect . . . .

Moose357

I have started this blog to post information and share maps and things I create for various computer games.

Games I normally play include, BOM-SF (a very neat MOD for BF2), Company of Heroes, HALO, Railroads and a little Civilization IV when I get a chance. I mainly make maps for BOM-SF, and Company of Heroes, but have done some for Civilization in the past. I also do some modding with the -BOM- squad, check out there site BOM-SF.

Thanks for dropping by.
